Undergraduate Students’ Perceived Self-Efficacy in Academic Reading

چکیده

Reading academic materials is necessary for acquiring knowledge and new insights to perform well in all demands. Nevertheless, many students were still struggling understanding texts due their high level of complexity so avoided reading. Thus, self-efficacy as a motivating force continuous effort the reading process must be activated. This study aimed investigate undergraduate students’ perception handling materials. One research question was proposed namely, what extent do perceive texts? To answer this question, mixed method undertaken. The respondents consist 35 from two private universities Yogyakarta, Indonesia. findings indicated that most prefer read constructing meaning. Moreover, succeed text, both external (effective strategies) internal factors (self-efficacy) required. implications teachers lecturers, namely applying learning procedures can equip with powerful strategies more importantly stimulate belief stable which enables them overcome various difficulties texts, such articles.
